TOUR HIGHLIGHTS:
Ensenada - Catavina - San Ignacio - Santa Rosalia
Bahia Concepcion - Loreto - La Paz - Cabo San Lucas
Day 1 – San Diego to Catavina: (Aprox. 312 Mi.)
Depart San Diego at 6:45AM due South and crossing one of the worlds largest
and busiest International borders at San Ysidro. Welcome to the land of
warmth, graciousness, good music, and great food! Our journey takes us
along the rugged coastline from Tijuana to Ensenada where we will have
breakfast and a glimpse of Baja's third largest city and most important
port. We will be travelling inland to San Quintin passing through the vineyards
of the Santo Tomas Valley. Time allowing and in season we will savor the
grapes of the valley by visiting one of the local wineries for a comprehensive
sampling, and a tour of the wine making facilities. Passing through San
Quintin, destination to sportfishing and birding enthusiasts and then on
to Catavina for dinner. We will spend our first night in Catavina at the
La Pinta Hotel, which is nestled in the thick of the beautiful Baja desert.
Catavina lies in central Baja and offers varieties of cacti not found anywhere
else in the world. The desert surroundings, incredible rock gardens and
cactus forest will touch your soul. There are also prehistoric cave paintings
just miles outside of town. There will be an optional tour offered at 7:00AM
on day 2 before our departure.
Day
2 – Catavina to San Ignacio: (Aprox. 236 Mi.) Leave Catavina at 9:00AM
en route to Guerrero Negro to snack; stretch and then on to San Ignacio
where yet another La Pinta Hotel will host us. San Ignacio is one of Bajas
most charming and picturesque "pueblitos" surrounded by date palms and
home to the Mission San Ignacio. Founded by the Jesuits in 1728 Mission
San Ignacio is touted as one of Bajas finest churches. There is an optional
tour available of the mission and museum from the hotel.
Day 3 – San Ignacio to Loreto: (Aprox. 168 Mi.)
We will depart San Ignacio at 9AM en route to Loreto with a short but most
rewarding stop in Santa Rosalia. This was once the site of a French owned
mining company in the 1880's and retains the French influence in it's architecture
and a must see in Baja. After a brief tour of the highlights of the town
(the church designed by Gaston Eiffel of Eiffel tower fame in Paris) we
will make our way across inland plains and descend into Mulege's desert
oasis. Continuing on to Loreto along the Gulf coast via Highway 1, which
will offer us a variety of vistas from barren coastal hills to the most
spectacular scenic highlights of Baja California at Bahia de Concepcion.
A short, but extraordinary photo opportunity stop will be made here at
what some consider the greatest place in Baja. We will continue on to the
all-inclusive Diamond Eden Resort in Loreto, which will be our home for
the next two nights. The all-inclusive Eden Resort will provide all the
meals, snacks and unlimited international brand alcoholic beverages as
well as natural juices and soft drinks. Some of the amenities also included
are deluxe accommodations, the largest hot tub in Baja, all non-motorized
water sports such as windsurfing, snorkeling, sailing and kayaking, green
fees at the 18-hole Loreto golf course are also included. Loreto is the
oldest of the permanent Spanish settlements and once capital of Baja California.
Enjoy a banquet of sports activities including fishing, golfing, relaxing
and sightseeing options which may include: The Mision Nuestra Senora de
Loreto and adjoining museum, the Civic Plaza, a walk along the malecon
or sea wall and numerous shops with Mexican handicrafts.
Day 4 and part of 5 in Loreto: Will be spent enjoying
activities of your choice, which will be listed with access information
at your hotel and around town.
Day 5 – Loreto to La Paz: (Aprox. 223 Mi.) Continuing
on to La Paz we will be departing Loreto at 12:30PM and arriving in La
Paz at the La Concha Beach Resort at approximately 6PM. The La Concha Beach
Resort will be our home for the next two nights. La Paz is the capital
of Baja California Sur and is a rapidly becoming a popular tourist destination
with a multitude of sports activities, duty free shopping, cultural and
historical resource center for the region, La Paz is an all around great
vacation destination.
Days 6 and part of 7 in La Paz: Will be spent
enjoying activities of your choice, which will be listed with access information
at your hotel and around town. (A list of options and prices will be provided
with your confirmation documents)
Day 7 – La Paz to Cabo San Lucas: (Aprox. 128 Mi.)
We will be departing La Paz at 12:30PM en route to Cabo San Lucas and our
home for the next two nights at the Plaza Las Glorias Hotel which is centrally
located on Cabos marina and waterfront.
Days 8 and part of 9 in Los Cabos: Will continue
in what has become one of the most popular tourist spots in Mexico. The
bay that was a favorite hiding place in the 16th and 17th centuries for
pirates now serves as anchorage for fishing boats and private yachts. This
once unknown and sleepy village has become an internationally known travel
destination. Sportfishing and water sports dominate the activity roster
but sightseeing, shopping, great dining and nightclubs cannot be overlooked
and should definitely be explored.
Day 9: Fly back today or extend your trip in Cabo
and fly back later.
