Aug. 1: L.A. Cetto Gala Dinner Concert
6pm: As part of its annual "Colores de Vendimia" Grape Harvest Fiesta, L.A. Cetto Winery presents "Una Bohemia en la Cava" with Mexican and Italian musical selections, a wine conference by enologist Camilo Magoni, and dinner served by Restaurant Saverio's. L.A. Aug. 1-5: Mision Santo Domingo Fiestas (northeast of San Quintin) 
This traditional country celebration is held at the adobe ruins of the mission dedicated by Dominican padres Manuel Garcia and Miguel Hidalgo in 1775. Festivities include rodeo events, horse races, games, regional foods and live music. About ten days prior to the opening of the Fiestas, cowboys begin a cabalgata vaquera, an 80-mile trail ride from ranches in the Sierra de San Pedro Martir to the mission site. To reach Mision Santo Domingo, turn east before the bridge in Poblado Chula Vista (about 2 miles north of Colonia Vicente Guerrero, or 13 miles north of San Quintin). The scenic 4.5-mile dirt road is suitable for most vehicles, but hairpin turns could be difficult for large RVs. Overnight camping is available at La Mision Rancho Montes Campgrounds which are in walking distance of the mission. Info: Promotora San Quintin, tel. (616)166-2728.

Aug. 1-10: Fiestas de la Vendimia
Tickets for cultural and culinary Grape Harvest festivities at Baja California's wineries and vineyards are now available at Viajes Damiana, Calle 2 & Obregon, Ensenada. Participating wineries include Bodegas de Santo Tomas, Casa Pedro Domecq, Cavas Valmar, Monte Xanic, Chateau Camou, Casa de Piedra, Viña de Liceaga, Mogor Badan and Vinos Bibayoff Bodegas. Aug. 1-17: San Quintin Expo Fair

Aug. 16: 9th Annual Los Gordos "Anything Goes" Chili Cookoff & Salsa Contest

Aug. 16: L.A. Cetto "Fiesta Colores de Vendimia" SOLD OUT!!!
Noon - L.A. Cetto celebrates its grape harvest with a gala fiesta including Catholic mass and the blessing of the first harvest, grape stomping contests, wine tastings, "The Sower" silent theater, country dinner, bullfight, live entertainment, dance, evening taquiza and fireworks at the vineyards in Valle de Guadalupe, 25 miles northeast of Ensenada at Km. 73.5 on Highway 3. Aug. 22-24: World Championship Baja Mex 300
A challenging off-road desert race for motorcycles, ATVs and four-wheelers with a course that passes through El Alamo, Valle de Trinidad, Llano Colorado, Colonet, Erendira, Uruapan and Maneadero. Aug. 29-31: Don Eddie's Sportfishing Tournament in San Quintin

Anglers are encouraged to bring their own boats but a few pangas are available by reservation. Aug. 30: San Miguel Anniversary Fiesta
4pm-2am: Join the festivities as Villa de San Miguel village celebrates the 46th anniversary of its establishment in 1957 by entrepreneur/historian Tomas Robertson and Restaurant El Rey Sol founder Virginia (Dona Pepita) Geffroy. There will be plenty of Mexican food and libations, games and contests, raffles, and live entertainment including mariachis and folkloric dancers. Free admission.
